On World Polio Day on October 24, 2016 we all have a moment to celebrate. India has been free of Polio for the last five years.
Polio is a scourge that Rotary took up quite aggressively over the last three decades. It is a disease which is preventable with a little care at the infant stage. Continued freedom form polio in India is a testimony to the efforts taken by Rotarians each year on their own and in working with other stakeholders for a powerful and real social impact.
In an attempt to remind us of the need to continue our support for Polio Eradication, the Interact Schools of District 3012 are planning to celebrate the fifth year of Polio Free India through a Rotary Essay Competition for Students of Class 8-12.
The topic for this competition is “Redemption of Rotary’s Pledge for a Polio-Free India”. This contest is meant to sensitize “Gen Next” to Rotary’s role in Polio Eradication. The essay should be limited to 200 words. Last date for submission is OCTOBER 20, 2016. The top three entries will be recognized at our District Conference at Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi on January 8, 2017.
The contest opens on October 10. This entire competition will be conducted online where the submissions can be done by uploading a word file, document or with the prescribed extension.
Participation in the contest is free. Though not mandatory, subject teachers can also recommend submissions by students.
Please complete your profile on the website or include the name of the student, class, school, email ID & mobile on the document itself.
So go ahead & participate enthusiastically.
